Counseling Services

The Center for Healthy Relationships is a community counseling center that offers individual, couples, relationship, family, and group therapy services. Our therapists are trained to provide sensitive, appropriate, and effective therapy that considers and values each person’s culture, ethnic background, discrimination/bias experiences, religious and spiritual beliefs, gender identity, sexual identity, age, and socioeconomic status, as well as issues of disability or mental or physical health needs. In short, we care about all the parts of you - the unique context in which you live and your life experiences. If there is something in your life that you want to be different, we can meet with you and talk it through. We are most focused on our clients experiencing an affirming space.

Our Staff

The center is similar to a teaching hospital for therapists as it’s part of a graduate program at the University of Oregon. It is staffed by upper-level graduate interns who are supervised by licensed faculty supervisors. The therapist you work with is taking their final step toward finishing their degree in Couples and Family Therapy and has been trained in evidence-based techniques and interventions. Our therapists have many identities and are committed to providing compassionate, affirming services to all our clients.

Our Clients

The center provides thousands of sessions per year to clients from all over Lane County. We work with clients of all ages, relationship types, gender identities, sexual orientations, experiences, and needs. Many of our clients have limited resources and do not have insurance. Some of our clients live in other parts of Oregon and work with our therapists via our privacy protected telehealth services.

What we believe

We believe that change is possible. We believe people are doing the best they can, and, sometimes, need support to manage stressors. We seek to promote equity and inclusion in our center, with attention on anti-racism and being tuned in to our client’s experiences within the larger community. We believe that our clients deserve a space that is free of discrimination and bias - we want to talk directly about the experiences of our clients knowing that issues of racism, sexism, transphobia, heterosexism, and ableism are common experiences. We will protect your privacy and maintain the highest level of confidentiality.

Costs

Clinic fees are low cost and are assessed on a sliding scale during the first appointment; we aim for cost to not be a barrier to services. Payment is due at the time of service. We want our clients to talk to us about what’s possible so we can make services accessible.
